‘The best part of Scouting is definitely the camps. I love every activity we do apart from swimming. They told us the pool was 24 degrees centigrade. Minus 24 more like!’
For Cubs, excitement and adventure are key. Our programme offers a huge variety of activities surrounding areas of fitness; global and beliefs; creativity and getting involved in our local community. Cubs are introduced to exciting outdoor skills and take part in adventurous activities, as well as camps and residential experiences.
The Cub Pack is the second section of the Scout Group following on from Beavers. Cub Scouts are young people aged between 8 and 10 ½.
We enjoy a wide range of activities including:
- Cooking
- Camping
- Art & Craft
- Climbing
- Kayaking
- Hiking
- Swimming
- Gaining Badges
- Helping Other People
- ….. and having fun
We meet on Tuesdays during school term time at the Scout HQ, Quay Lane, Sudbury.
If you have a potential cub scout aged eight to ten years and would like to know more then contact us using the form below.
Cub Promise
I promise that I will do my best
To do my duty to God and to the Queen
To help other people
And to keep the Cub Scout Law.
The Cub Scout Law:
Cub Scouts always do their best
Think of others before themselves
And do a good turn every day.
Cub Law
Cub Scouts always do their best
Think of others before themselves
And do a good turn every day.
Cub Motto
Be Prepared
Cubs may wear a dark green sweatshirt with a Group scarf (often called a necker) and a woggle in the colour of their Six.
There is a range of badges and awards available to young people in the Cub Section.
Activity badges
Many of the badges available are activity badges, which allow Cubs to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things and form new interests.
Challenge awards
Gaining a challenge badge involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the Troop or community. There are several challenge badges across a number of themes, from the physical and outdoorsy to challenges dealing with the local community or issues connected with the Scouting world.
