‘The best thing we did was swim in the rain. I wasn’t even sure we were allowed to, but it was brilliant! I mean we were wet anyway, so I guess it didn’t matter too much about the weather.’

Beaver Scouts are young people aged between six and eight years old. They belong to the first Section in the Scouting family. Young people can join Beaver Scouts in the three months leading up to their sixth birthday. They can move to the next Section, Cub Scouts, between seven years and six months and eight years six months.

During their time in the Colony, Beaver Scouts will get a chance to try a wide range of different activities as well as going on trips, days out, and at sleepovers. Participation rather than meeting set standards is the key approach, and there is a range of challenge awards and badges available that Beaver Scouts can gain during their time in the section to recognise their achievements.
